Active Power Factor Correction Research Modeling and Simulation
If the actual circuit can be used, Why create equivalent circuit models?
-
- The abrupt discontinuities that occur in the actual circuit as the switch transitions state forces the time step in the PSPICE simulation to extremely small increments.
- These small increments mean an increased number of calculated points and equate to more convergence problems and significantly longer simulation times.
What can be done?
-
- We need an equivalent model that doesn’t exhibit the abrupt jumps seen in the actual circuit.
- The means that the nonlinear elements (transistors and diodes) need to be replaced by equivalent components namely sources representing average electrical parameters.
